Surprise Proposal Photoshoot at Marimurtra Garden: A Dream Engagement on the Costa Brava

Some mornings are worth waking up early for.

A few days ago, I set my alarm before sunrise to photograph another surprise proposal at the breathtaking Marimurtra Botanical Garden in Blanes, one of the most beautiful locations near Barcelona for an engagement proposal.

What made this proposal even more special was that the future groom and I had been planning it together for months.

We exchanged messages, discussed locations, timing, and logistics, all with one goal: making sure everything went perfectly for one of the most important moments of their lives. Because Marimurtra is such a sought-after destination, we agreed that the best strategy would be to arrive right when the garden opened at 9:00 AM. The garden attracts visitors from all over the world thanks to its spectacular Mediterranean views, lush botanical collections, and its iconic Linnaeus Temple, an elegant pavilion perched dramatically on the cliffs overlooking the Costa Brava. Often considered the most photographed spot in the garden, the temple offers one of the most stunning panoramic views of the Mediterranean coastline.

I arrived right on time when the gates opened and walked towards the location he had chosen for the proposal. As I waited for the couple, I took a moment to appreciate the incredible scenery around me. The sea was calm, the sky was perfectly clear, and the morning light was already painting everything in soft colors.

Standing there, I found myself thinking about how privileged I am to be part of moments like these.

As a proposal photographer in Barcelona and the Costa Brava, I get to witness some of the happiest days in people's lives.

Every proposal is different, but the emotion is always genuine.

A few minutes later, I spotted the couple walking through the garden.

As planned, I pretended to be photographing a nearby flower while keeping them in the corner of my eye. The groom looked at me and gave me a discreet smile, he signal that everything was about to happen. Within seconds, he got down on one knee.

Years of photographing surprise proposals have trained my eyes to react instantly during these moments. There are no second chances when someone asks the love of their life to marry them.

Thankfully, my Sony A7 IV's fast autofocus keeps up with every expression, every tear, every laugh, and every unforgettable reaction. #affiliatelink :)

The light that morning couldn't have been more perfect. The sky was a brilliant Mediterranean blue, and the bride-to-be was wearing a stunning red dress that stood out beautifully against the garden's greenery and the sea beyond.

But more than the scenery, what truly made the photographs special was the emotion.

The joy.

The surprise.

The relief after months of planning.

The happiness of two people beginning a new chapter together.
